Biotechnology needs good quality PR to relay positive messages to its audiences. Young biotech companies are keen to tell the world about their existence, but strategic planning for the right time to speak up is as important as having a strong story to tell.

For Nova Laboratories, the completion of a proof-of-concept study in collaboration with Oxford University was the perfect time to unveil a new drug delivery system that creates thermally stable, instantly injectable, live viral vaccine vectors. The results were published in Science Translational Medicine and we coordinated a global scientific media launch to coincide with this.

The goals were to showcase the innovation, promote it to new markets abroad, secure key opinion leader engagement and promote collaboration with other partners, coupled with UK media outreach to boost Nova’s corporate profile.

By taking the time to translate complex technical messages, we secured strong media attendance for a launch at the prestigious Jenner Institute, including ITN News. We media trained a Nova spokesman to conduct interviews for TV, radio and print, which were carried out over a number of days due to demand.

We achieved national broadcast coverage in key markets such as the US, Canada, Europe and widespread scientific coverage in the UK and around the world.

We also made a film of the event for Nova's website, interviewing key people and explaining the patented technology.
