Adding Grit to Gravitas
Hello, Kirsty here, the latest Gravitas PR recruit! I’m now into my second month as Account Executive at Gravitas PR and I have probably learnt more here in that short time than I have done in the last year.
I graduated with a PR degree in 2013, which included a 12 month industry placement. My first role was with the Fairness Commission at my local authority. I was solely responsible for managing and delivering the PR programme for the Commission and the Chair – no pressure!
Having such a big responsibility so early on in my career really gave me a lot of confidence. I secured TV and radio interviews, achieved print and online coverage, organised events and developed content for social media and blogs.
The similarities between the Fairness Commission and Gravitas are the strong visions and values they behold. At the Fairness Commission I was crafting the vision for a fairer city, looking at inequalities, for instance access to healthcare, and ensure that those that needed to hear about it, did.
The Gravitas vision is to help people and the planet by supporting clients in the health and environment sectors through clear and compelling messages, all adhering to the Gravitas vision.
There’s a strong team ethic at Gravitas and they are dedicated to making the best of me, whether that’s through formal training, sharing their own PR experiences or just giving me the opportunity to get stuck in.
I’ve taken on a wide variety of work across a range health clients. From media sell-ins, to interviewing and writing up case studies, to developing campaign ideas and research tasks. I applied for the role at Gravitas because I could tell that it’s an agency with added grit. It’s got a clear focus, strong values and a dedicated team.
I’m looking forward to seeing what the future holds with Gravitas and am excited to get under the skin of our existing and future clients to deliver impressive PR campaigns. One day, I hope there will be an award on the shelves here for one of my campaigns!
